KENYA CATHOLIC COMMUNITY IN AMERICA
A word from the KCCA chairman
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I wish to take this opportunity to welcome you all to this year’s KCCA 11th Annual Convention and Swahili mass. Special thanks to Most. Rev Robert Joseph Lombardo C.F.R, Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago, Illinois, who has humbly accepted to be our main celebrant. It is my sincere hope you are all doing fine and ready for us all to come together as a community “journeying together”.
In the past 10 years, the Kenya Catholic Community in America organization, has been able to organize and hold Annual Cultural Gatherings that culminate with a Swahili mass. These events have always been excellent and have brought Kenyan Catholics and friends from across the country together to enrich their spirituality from the retreats and Swahili masses. The African cultural events held also have been a source of joy and give attendees a home feeling experience.
My dear brethren I am excited that this year’s event that is going to be a physical gathering after two years of virtual events, is going to be motivating and very enjoyable. It is my hope that the experience will strengthen our spirituality as we praise the Lord together.
For the last 11 years that KCCA has been in operation, we have seen tremendous spiritual growth in our communities and many of our brothers and sisters who had strayed from Catholicism are coming back to church. We encourage you all to keep coming and attending our events and to be part and parcel of the evangelization efforts. Our cultural roots are strong let's not discard them, instead as we assimilate into the American culture let's also influence it with our beautiful cultural heritage. Swahili mass being a big plus.
Lastly, I want to extend my sincere thanks to the KCCA leaders who have devoted their time year after year organizing these events, the Chicago Jumuia, the St. Ignatius College Prep. Community (Tina Bobor and Fr, Paul Kalenzi), the Community of Our Lady of the Holy Family Paris (Rev, Peter McQuinn, Catherine Foreman) who have graciously agreed to host KCCA’e annual event and accepted for us to use their beautiful facilities, and all those who will volunteer to participate in the event, God bless you abundantly.
Sincerely yours in Christ.
